- Bio: Son of Leonard A. & Laura O. (Thoreson) Sorenson. Graduated from LeRoy High School in 1941. Enlist in US Air forces WWII, in 1942, served three years and three monthes. Most Military time was spent in China, India and Burma. Helped his father on farm, and extended his education receiving Bachelors Degree, Masters and PHD from University of Minnesota. Was united in marriage to Judith H. Johnson, April 27, 1952, at her church in Iowa. Was member of the faculty at Kansas State University from 1955-1991, when he retired. He contributed to community progects, a past member of Lions Club, member of American Legion and past president of Sertoma. Active member of the First Lutheran church, sence 1955. where he served as Sunday School teacher, youth leader, 4-H and Boy Scouts. Servived by wife, Debbie of the home, two daughters, Mary Nickles of St. George and Jane Belford and her husband Mark of Ft. Collins, Colo., one brother Dr. Vernon Sorenson and wife Marilyn of Lansing, Mich., one sister, Lory Nauman of Crosslake, MN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services at First Lutheran Church, with Rev.Dr. Keith Wiens officiating. Interment at Sunrise Cemetary in Manhatten.
