- Bio: Chester "Chet" J. Veratt, age 83 of Bellingham passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2009. He was born on August 25, 1925 in Blaine, WA to Dewey Veratt and Anna (Jensen) Blanchard. Chet graduated from Bellingham High School and served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He married Mary Reamy at Zion Lutheran Church in Custer in 1946. Chet was on the opening crew at the Mobil Oil Refinery and retired from there in 1984. He loved camping, lake fishing and traveling. Chet was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, Allen Blanchard. He is survived by his wife, Mary Veratt; daughters, Jane (Rich) Bradley, and Lisa (Rob) Thomas; granddaughters, Carin and Katherine Bradley, and Alisha Van Delft; and great-grandson, Aiden Garrett. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Francis for taking such loving care of Chet. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Greenacres Memorial Park, 5700 Northwest Dr., Ferndale.
