- Velma Leora Farland, 87, of Longview, passed away January 12, 2006 at an adult care facility in Longview. She was born January 28, 1918, in Stafford, North Dakota to Otto and Laura (Reischke) Duerre and moved here from Salem, Oregon in 1932. She was a 1935 graduate of Kelso High School and was a member of North Lake Baptist Church. Velma was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Velma is survived by her husband, Andy Farland, at home; a son, Ken Farland, Longview; three Grandchildren and eight Great Grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, January 18, 2006 - 11:00 A.M. at North Lake Baptist Church with Pastor Mark Schmutz and Dr. James Conrod officiating. Concluding service and mausoleum entombment will follow at Longview Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be offered to Longview Christian School, 2610 Ocean Beach Hwy., Longview, WA 98632. Columbia Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements. A reception will be held at the church following service.
