- Bio: Jorgen Magnus Hanssen, 63, Larimore, died Thursday, April 11, 2002, in his home.Mr. Hanssen, known as James, was born July 1, 1938, in Norway, where he attended school. He moved to the United States in 1957. He joined the U.S. Army and served in Germany. He was discharged in 1961. He moved to Chicago. On June 19, 1965, he married Margaret Stangeland. He graduated from Chicago Police Academy and worked as a patrolman for the Chicago Police Force. They moved to Larimore in 1972. He worked for Sears as a TV and appliance repair technician for 25 years. He retired in 1997. He then owned a small appliance repair shop in Larimore. He was a certified state instructor and tester with the North Dakota Firemen's Association. He also worked as a school bus driver for Larimore Public Schools.He is survived by his wife; a son, Erik, Larimore; two daughters, Kari Hanssen, Arden Hills, Minn., Lisa Umphrey of Iceland; his mother, Margit Hanssen, Norway; a brother, Egil of the Philippines; and three grandchildren.Visitation: Thursday from 10-9 in Brown Funeral Home, Larimore.Funeral: Friday at 10 in Elm Grove Lutheran Church near Larimore.Burial: Elm Grove Church Cemetery near Larimore.
