- Bio: Riverdale, Iowa -- Services for Marilyn R. Thompson, Amana and Riverdale, will be 3 p.m. Monday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation is 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday at the mortuary.
- Mrs. Thompson died Wednesday, June 26th, 2002, at the Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids.
- She worked with her husband as a receptionist in his podiatry office in Davenport for 43 years, retiring in 1989. In earlier years she had worked as a registered nurse in the Chicago area and also in Davenport.
- Marilyn Ruth Miller was born April 24, 1925, to Harry and Flora (Kistenmacher) Miller in Davenport. She married Dr. Elvin "Tommy" Thompson on Sept. 13, 1952, in Davenport. He preceded her in death in July 2000.
- Mrs. Thompson enjoyed playing cards and was an avid bridge player for more than 50 years. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Davenport or to a favorite charity.
- Survivors include five sons, John Thompson, Amana, Stephen Thompson, Davenport, William Thompson, Norway, Matthew Thompson, Middle Amana, and Robert Thompson, Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Carol McGuire, Maryville, Tenn., Barbara Otteson, Tucson, Ariz., and Shirley Shirk, Clayton, Ohio; and five grandchildren.
- In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Janet.
