- Funeral services for Lydia Helland, 78, were held Wednesday, July 17, at the Hauge Lutheran Church in Kenyon with the Rev. R. L. Larson officiating. A duet composed of Mrs. Amos Stolee and Mrs. Charles Rognmoe sang two selections: I'm A Pilgrim" and "Friends of Jesus In Their Parting." They were accompanied by Mrs. Roger Houglom, church organist. Richard Buan, James Sathre, David Buan, Reuben Quie, Glen Broin and Daniel Buan served as pallbearers. Interment was at Kenyon Cemetery. The daughter of Peder and Guro Lien Odegaard, she was born in Rice County Dec. 16, 1889. She was baptized at Gol Lutheran Church by the late Rev. K. O. Lundberg and confirmed at the Bethany Church in Kenyon by the late Rev. A. O. Severson. During the years 1916 to 1920 she was employed at the General store at Baldwin, N.D., owned by her sister and brother-in-law. She was married to Alfred Helland June 2, 1920, and the couple established their home on a farm in Kenyon Township where Mrs. Helland lived the rest of her life. This past year, illness had confined her to the hospital and nursing home at Faribault. She passed away at the Faribault Manor Nursing Home July 14. She is survived by her husband and one sister, Geoline Odegaard, both of Kenyon. her parents, five brothers and three sisters preceded her in death.
