- Bio: Born Knut Pedersen on the island of Karmøy (Indre Eide farm) to Peder Mortensen and Susanne Larsdtr. He married Elisabeth Halvorsdtr in 1845 in Norway. They were the parents of seven children. Knut and his wife emigrated to America in the early 1880's and settled in Emmet County, Iowa. Their son Peter Henrik Knutson and daughter Ellen Knudson Freeman had moved there as well. They lived the remainder of their lives in Emmet County, cared for by their son and daughter.Note: It is unclear what name Knut used in America. He is listed as Knut Knutson in the 1885 Iowa Census but his gravestone shows the name of Peterson Knudson. He and his wife share a gravestone with their daughter Ellen.
