- Bio: Mr. Minnard "Skeet" Longfield, age 47, of Walnut, IL, died early Thursday morning, November 24, 1988 in University Hospital in Iowa City, IA.Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Garland Funeral Home in Walnut with Rev. John Atherton, pastor of Walnut United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Cemetery.Visitation will be on Friday from 6-9 p.m. A memorial has been established in his memory.Mr. Longfield was born on August 2, 1941 in Atkins, IA, the son of Nelles and Alma (Kleppe) Longfield. He was united in marriage to Lois M. (Nelson) Longfield on May 20, 1961 in Cedar Rapids, IA. A Cedar Rapids resident for about 13 years, he started working at Iowa National Mutual Insurance Company in 1960 and later worked at United Fire and Casualty for 10 years. Mr. Longfield was a partner in Longfield, Gugerty, Jamison Insurance Agency, Inc. in Walnut at the time of his death. He was a member of the Christ Church Presbyterian at Cedar Rapids and the Walnut Community Theatre.He is survived by his wife, Lois of Walnut, IL; two daughters, Miss Rhonda Longfield of Marion, IA and Mrs. Timothy (Julie) Renner of Walnut, IL; two grandchildren; his mother Mrs. Alma Longfield of Walnut Manor in Walnut, IL; two brothers, Arlin (Helen) Longfield of Bridgeton, MO and Ed (Norma) Longfield of Denver, CO; one sister, Mrs. Robert (Nelda) Elson of Ventura, CA; and several nieces and nephews.He is preceded in death by his father and one sister, Mavis (Charles) Jennings.
